Machu Picchu “Gallery of the Americas”

Machu Picchu “Gallery of the Americas” was founded in Los Gatos, CA in 1974 by Olga Enciso-Smith. Olga is from Peru and has a love for showcasing artwork from North and South American artists, specifically Latin American art.

Logos

Olga wanted a new logo that focuses as much on the concept of the artist as the artwork. She is passionate about giving credit to all her artists and giving them credit where credit is due. Because of this, I decided to really focus on the human/artists’ hands holding their precious artwork as opposed to just focusing on the artwork. Below is the result, in colored, black, and white versions.

Color palette

I decided to use colors reminiscent of natural pottery colors, very common of pre-colonialism Americas textile art.
